Enter up to five debts and see your debt-free date, total interest, and the exact order to pay them off — using the same Debt Avalanche and Debt Snowball engine as the full CutTheCard app. Then test what a 0% balance transfer could save you.
1Your debts
Add up to 5 accounts. Use what you pay each month now. We've started you with an example — just type over it.
2Your debt reduction plan
Pick a method. Every payment you free up rolls onto the next debt automatically.
3What if you moved a balance to a 0% card?
A 0% balance-transfer card charges no interest during its promo period (usually for a one-time fee). See how it changes your payoff timing and interest.

How this debt payoff calculator works
Type in each debt's balance, interest rate (APR) and the amount you pay every month. The calculator pays each account its regular payment, puts any extra money on the account you should attack first, and rolls that payment forward to the next debt each time one is paid off. It shows you the month and date you'd be debt-free and the total interest you'd pay along the way.
Debt avalanche vs. debt snowball
The debt avalanche method attacks the highest interest rate first. It costs the least interest and is usually the fastest path to debt-free. The debt snowball method attacks the smallest balance first. You may pay slightly more interest, but you clear whole accounts sooner, which many people find easier to stick with. Use the toggle in step 2 to compare both on your own numbers. For more detail, read our guide to avalanche vs. snowball.
Should you use a 0% balance transfer?
Moving a high-rate balance to a card with a 0% introductory APR can save hundreds or thousands in interest, but most offers charge a transfer fee and the savings disappear if a balance is still on the new card when the promotion ends. The simulator in step 3 shows the fee, the interest saved, your new debt-free date, and warns you if some of the balance would still be left when the 0% period runs out. Frequently asked questions
Is my information saved? No. The numbers you type are sent to our server only to run the calculation and are not stored. Nothing is saved unless you choose to create an account.
How accurate is the estimate? It assumes fixed monthly payments, monthly compounding at the APR you enter, and no new charges. Real statements vary with billing cycles, minimum-payment formulas and rate changes, so treat the result as a planning estimate.
What does the full version add? Tracking real payments and charges over time, charge-level promotional rates, an automatic debt reduction plan that updates as your balances change, balance-transfer opportunities across your cards, and a year-end records export. See what CutTheCard does.
